Cleveland Gear Company has specialized in worm gear technology including industrial gears, helical gears, worm gears, and precision gears since 1912. You will find that our speed reducers have exceptional quality. We will fulfill your exact requirements and that is what continues to make Cleveland Gear one of the top manufactures of gears. In 1980, we joined a network of worldwide companies, collectively named Industrial Manufacturing Company (IMC), all committed to excellence in their industries. Our strong foundation is rooted in our leadership and longevity in the gear industry. We continuously strive to improve operations and custom design our products to meet our customer’s requirements.

As the first company in the United States to manufacture worm gearing for mass productions, we were the first to introduce a number of innovations, such as, worm gear speed reducers for handling over-hung loads, box-type housing to increase heat dissipation, and one-piece housing which allowed smaller worm gear units. Over a century of experience has allowed us to create gears with features such as single and multiple speed drives, varying gear designs, horsepower from 10-10,000, torque output up to 4.5 million lbs per inch as well as horizontal or vertically offset designs. All our products are fabricated with reliable materials and with uncompromising quality.

Not only do we provide enclosed drives, open gearing, and custom drives but we also offer rebuilding services. Our enclosed drives have a history of lasting 40-50 years and many of our customers prefer to refurbish these models over replacing them, giving a “same as new” gear for a lower cost. Our gears are ideal for demanding operating conditions and serve a myriad of applications including, steel production, mineral processing, material handling, mass transit, overhead cranes, rubber production and more.

Gear Drive

Gear Drive

Gear drives, sometimes referred to as gear trains and gearboxes, are mechanisms consisting of an assembly of gears, shafts, and other machine elements for mounting the rotating parts...

Gear Reducer

Gear Reducer

A gear reducer is a mechanical system of gears in an arrangement such that input speed can be lowered to a slower output speed but have the same or more output torque. The operation of a gear reducer involves a set of rotating gears that are...

Speed Reducers

Speed Reducers

A speed reducer is a gear train between the motor and the machinery that is used to slow down the transmission of power. Speed reducers, also known as gear reducers, are mechanical devices that serve two roles...

Ball Screws

Ball Screws

Ball screws are mechanical linear actuators that consist of a screw shaft and a nut that contain a ball that rolls between their matching helical grooves. The primary function of ball screws is to convert rotational motion to linear motion. Ball nuts are used in...

Shaft Couplings

Shaft Couplings

Shaft couplings are devices that connect two shafts to transmit power from the driveshaft to the driven shaft while absorbing some degrees of misalignments and mounting errors between the two shafts...

Worm Gears

Worm Gears

A worm gear is a staggered shaft gear that creates motion between shafts using threads that are cut into a cylindrical bar to provide speed reduction. The combination of a worm wheel and worm are the components of a worm gear...
